We had a busy day on the first day of Autumn with thermals starting around 1pm and increasing as the afternoon went on. Cloud base was around 7000-8000’ but it was hard work getting established low down with plenty of sink in between thermals. First away was Doug with Dave Pollard’s Mum for a 20min flight, then Roland and Phil were away for over three hours with Roland going over to Bannockburn where he found it difficult to go much further. Phil roamed around the basin and ended up in the sun over towards Poolburn for a while as it overdeveloped. In the meantime Allen had an hour with Doug (check flight +) and then it was Jacques turn for an hour. It was still pumping at 6.30pm as the overdevelopment cleared. A very enjoyable day’s flying!
